Kyoshin Paper and Package decided to choose Heidelberg Primefire 106 as the next digital machine to expand their web-to-pack business in addition to the traditional packaging business. They signed the first Primefire 106 contract in Japan in April 2019. Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will install a digital printing system at Kyoshin Paper and the new Kanto factory this summer.
Kyoshin Paper and Package was founded in Kobe, Japan in 1948. Since then, their “challenger spirit” has become a hot blow as a successful printing and packaging service provider. Currently 290 employees work at the printing press. In 2013 the printing company expanded its packaging business by launching a web-to-pack service called “Hacoplay” which focused on small and small-sized requests with digital machines. They accept orders for only one box in three days as their shortest delivery time. Currently the maximum size they can print on their digital machines is B2, but to expand their web-to-pack business, they are looking for a B1 digital press that can meet the needs and demands of clients.

The first time they saw Heidelberg Primefire 106 at the 2016 Drupa Exhibition. They were very impressed and asked Heidelberg to do a print test with challenging images. Mr. Kazuhiro Kajikawa, Executive Director of the Hacoplay Division, said: “Primefire’s print test results are very good. Print quality like green and orange is very extraordinary. We feel the quality of the Heidelberg Primefire 106 print is the most beautiful we have ever seen. At the time of testing, the quality consistency between the first sheet and 500 was also very stable which surprised me and our offset printing machine operator. Another interesting feature of Primefire 106 for us is that we can cover 95% of Pantone colors because we as packaging printing have to use many special colors to print packages.
By increasing the size from A3 to B2, we can expand our business and we expect more by using the B1 size with Primefire 106. “Primefire 106 is the first industrial digital printing machine available for packaging in B1 format.” Japan for us is a very market important because it is one of the top countries for folding cardboard products and may have the highest image quality standards in the world, “explained Montserrat Peidró-Insa, Head of Digital Print Business in Heidelberg.” Primefire’s customer success drives our entire team. We are proud to have a well-known company like Kyoshin Paper and Package who chose Primefire 106 to accelerate the development of their printing press.
With the installation of this new machine, Primefire expands its global presence even further and consolidates itself as a driver of growth in the packaging printing business. “
